Discernment in an Age of Therapy
Our director will lead the class through how to use the many practical counseling assignments and handouts provided in the manual. Some students will participate in mock counseling sessions in which the entire class will give input under the supervision of our director. All formed students are encouraged to participate in this brand new practicum section. There is no cost for former students.
This week's class will actually be a practical lecture and discussion. Have you heard or thought these type of statement before, "The Bible is not a book on counseling so it doesn’t work on many complex counseling situations.” Even though we believe the Bible is authoritative, we may wonder how sufficient is it in providing solutions to the difficult cases in counseling. By attending this workshop you will come to understand that this just is not true. Come learn to build on the foundation of Scripture in counseling change, no matter how difficult the case, without veering off into building on secular theories of change that do not depend upon Christ. Psychology can observe facts but not, apart from the aid of Scripture, understand or solve the deepest problems.
